MO-KAN NFL FLAG FAQs
Q: Who can play?
A: This program is open to Boys and Girls, grades K – 8 (as of the registration deadline date). Participants from any city can register for any of our programs, and we welcome all skill levels!
Q: How are individual players placed on teams?
A: This is a league designed to keep schoolmates and friends playing together. Individuals are placed on teams determined by school, buddy requests, grade, and age factors. Our goal is for each elementary and middle school to have their own flag football teams. Teams are formed using a combination of the following criteria (listed in no specific order):
School affiliation
Current Grade/Age
Buddy Requests (We do our best to accommodate all requests, but refunds cannot be provided due to an unfulfilled request)
Most teams will have 8-10 players. If there are more than 12 players registered in the same grade/age division at the same school, those players will be divided into multiple "School" teams and then the remaining spots could be filled with players from other schools.
Q: What if my child and his/her classmates do not have enough players to form a team?
A: No worries! We will always try to keep classmates together but if needed we will combine players from other schools to form your team for the season.
Q: Do we accept team registrations?
A: No, we use the procedure above to form teams. This ensures parity within the league and prevents stacking. Our buddy request philosophy is just that, a buddy request. This does not mean a coach can request 10 players. It is used for children to request to be placed on a team with one or two friends.
Q: How many players are on a team?
A: We offer a 5v5 format on the field. Therefore, most teams have 8-10 players. However, there may be exceptions depending on participation numbers.
Q: Does the league supply uniforms?
A: Of course! Every NFL FLAG player in our program receives a reversible Officially Licensed NFL team jersey, shorts, and flag belt to keep with registration. Additional team merchandise such as socks, sleeves, gloves, and mouth guards are also available at registration!
Q: Who are the coaches?
A: Most of the coaches in our leagues are family members of the participants or youth sports leaders from around the community. Training, tools, apps, and practice resources are provided to all volunteers. All coaches will be background checked and up to date with their NFL FLAG Coach Training Certification prior to season kickoff. Our coaches are the backbone of our organization, and we do everything we can to support them.
Q: Can I volunteer to coach if I have no experience?
A: Yes! Our staff conducts coaches meetings/training prior to every season. It is at these meetings we will train you on our program's rules, the NFL FLAG rulebook, and provide additional resources you can utilize to be successful. You can volunteer by selecting 'Become a Coach' on the home page or the Coaches/Officials tab.
Q: Who are the officials and are they qualified?
A: Many of our referees are high school athletes who enjoy giving back to the community. Every official is thoroughly trained and up to date with their NFL FLAG Referee Certification. They are very good at what they do and will call a fair game for both sides.
Q: How do I sign up to officiate?
A: You can sign up by selecting 'Become a Ref' under the Coaches/Officials tab. No experience is necessary. We will provide all training and certifications required.
Q: How much playing time can my child expect?
A: All of our programs promote participation, fun, and fundamentals. Coaches are expected to fairly allocate playing time equally among all players on the team. We will do our best to assure all players receive equal playing time.
Q: Are there playoffs?
A: Yes. The top 4 teams in each division will participate in playoffs the last week of the season. The top 2 teams will then play an additional game the same day for the Super Bowl.
Q: What types of awards are given?
A: Each player will receive an individual Certificate of Achievement. Super Bowl Rings will be awarded to Super Bowl Champions, and 2nd place will receive medals.
Q: Do all flag football players need a mouth guard?
A: Yes. All participants are required to wear a mouth guard. These can be purchased independently, during registration, or at the field on game day ($5). Players without a mouth guard will not be allowed to participate.
Q: How do I register? What is the cost?
A: All registrations are taken online. You can view pricing information and register for the upcoming seasons by selecting "Register Now" on the home page.
Q: How does the refund policy work?
A: Full Refunds (for those who are NOT using a credit) can be requested within 7 days of registration (Last refunds eligible for processing on the Registration end date).
- Cancellations after 7 Days and up to the end of Registration will be given a credit toward a future season
- After Registration ends, no refunds or credits can be processed
